Synopsis

This workshop explores and introduces the use of generative AI art in the art form of comics or manga, for the purposes of teaching and learning. In the creation of comics, students have the opportunity to exercise metacognition, to express conceptual understanding and to communicate narratives. The popularity of the art form among the current generation of students provides opportunities for us to enhance student engagement and involve students in the co-creation of knowledge and teaching resources.

The workshop introduces educators to the tools of ChatGPT, Midjourney, and Canva in the creation of comics for educational purposes.

Facilitators:
Dr Chua Dingjuan (Dept of Electrical & Computer Engineering, CDE)
Dr Mark Gan (Centre for Teaching, Learning & Technology)
