Synopsis
Participants will be introduced to the key concepts relating to a cognitive framework for active learning, known as the ICAP framework. Various strategies to engage students during online and face-to-face lessons will be explored in this workshop. In addition, hands-on opportunities are provided for participants to design their own flipped lesson.
Intended Learning Outcomes
The sessions aim to enable participants to:
- define what is active learning using the four modes of activities that is based on the ICAP hypothesis.
- identify key considerations when selecting the appropriate kind of active learning strategies into the flipped classroom approach.
- apply the principles and strategies to design learning activities that promote active engagement during out-of-class and in-class learning.
